Severely damaged in the 2011 earthquakes, Cotters Lane was, for a time, the only building left standing along this section of High Street. While the original structure could not be fully saved, the historic 1901 façade was carefully preserved and now fronts a new three-storey commercial building that honours its past while embracing the future.
Designed by AE Architects, Cotters Lane received a 2023 Canterbury Architecture Award for Commercial Architecture. Behind the heritage façade, the building opens into a richly detailed contemporary workplace, with a premium fit-out that feels warm, polished and distinctive.
At street level, the building features a mix of salon and beauty services and a large office tenancy. The upper two floors each offer fully furnished boutique office suites, supported by shared kitchen and bathroom facilities. A shared meeting room is available on Level 1, with lift access providing ease and accessibility throughout.
